Indications:

Metformin Hydrochloride is a biguanide hypoglycemic agent used in non-insulin diabetes mellitus when diet control fails. It can be prescribed to patients not responding to sulfonylureas. Overweight patient may expierence a beneficial weight loss and this is has been sometimes the rationale behind combining insulin and metformin in insulin dependent diabetes.
